What’s New for November
This October, I attended Tangofest in Portland for five days of workshops, milongas, and comraderie with fellow Argentine tango enthusiasts. During my stay I interviewed Alex Krebs. Not only is Alex a highly respected tango instructor and performer, he also plays the very challenging instrument (and the heart of tango music), the bandoneón, in the tango orchestra Conjunto Berretín. I was very excited to be able to talk with Alex about his background, his passion for the tango, and his perspective on musicality, connection, and flow. New Weekly Class and Milonga at UAA
UAA will be hosting a weekly Argentine tango class and milonga starting this Monday, September 8. Dustin Madden and Katie Cueva will be teaching a class from 8:30 to 9:30, with the milonga starting after class and finishing around 11:00 p.m. The class and the milonga will be held in PSB 162 (the dance studio in what used to be the K building) on the UAA campus on the corner of 36th and Lake Otis. Be sure to attend and support the growth of the Argentine tango community in Anchorage!
